Test Voltage

Test voltage (Dielectric test voltage AC)
Voltage (effective value in AC voltage) that is applied between relay elements that are insulated from one another in the voltage test.

Surge voltage
Amplitude of a voltage impulse of short duration with a specified impulse form and polarity that is applied to test insulation paths in the relay. This proves that the relay wi ll withstand very high overvoltages for very short periods.

Impulse form

The impulse form is characterized by the following values:
  • voltage amplitude (e.g. 1.5 kV)
  • rise time T1 (e.g. 1.2 µs)
  • fall time T2 (e.g. 50 µs)
